HighTrails began in 2001 and is owned an operated by Marcel Mijares. Marcel started Hightrails as a bike tour company and it has expanded over the years to provide professional fittings, tune-ups and retail of bikes and parts.
Marcel came to San Francisco in 1990 from Caracas, Venezuela with the intention of surfing and biking throughout the Pacific Coast. He fell in love with the Bay Area and the Sierras and has been here ever since. When Marcel arrived here he only spoke Spanish, despite that he was able to graduate with honors from Lincoln School of Business in English! While learning English and studying Marcel spent his free time exploring all of the North West on either his bike or his board. It became a dream of his to share the beauty and serenity that he continually found, and that is when he came up with the idea to start High Trails. Still today, more than 15 years later Marcel is finding new mountains to tackle and new waves to ride in this beautiful land called California.

Hightrails provides retail sales of bikes, gear, accessories, repair service and fit sessions. as well as full service guided mountain bike and road bike tours in the Bay Area. Marcel has attained skills in sales, service, built relationships with industry insiders and developed a roster of patrons and clients. As a bike enthusiast, he has gained skills, knowledge and contacts working within the bicycle industry. The aim of Hightrails is to become a premier mobile bicycle service provider. Hightrails is unique within the industry because we come to you and offer the highest level of customer service in addition to our unparallel levels of expertise.

Hightrails is goaled to become a major part of the bike industry in Northern California with focus towards community and environmental responsibility.
